did you here obama last night? i think his health care plan is not bad but why not just make health care free! many other countries have free health care even cuba! so why cant we?

What is wrong? Well, let me see...

-The fact that we do not need to be dependent on the government for another thing.
-The fact that the government will use this to manipulate and control
-The fact that we are NOT a socialist nation (If you want to live in Cuba with the Castros that is your choice. But hey, at least your hospital bill and funeral will be cheap! )
-The fact that ER wait times will skyrocket, resulting in more deaths
-The fact that more people will die of disease if the medicine that can save them is "too expensive" (e.g. It is a fact that a much higher percentage of Canadians than Americans die from this malady for this reason)


I have been carefully studying this idea for weeks and find myself surprised that I actually think the idea is GREAT...if it worked. However, I believe that if the people of America think that they want it, than it should be a state issue, not a government one.

it is impossible to have a free health care system worth anything without the help of the government. this is not the wild west, there is a government for a reason. remember what lincoln said? (a government by the people, for the people, will not perish from the earth.) that was for a reason.

Yes, "a government by the people, for the people" is neccessary. But not one above the people, controling the people. It was not the Founder's intent that the government should be responsible for every facet of American life. Especially not their health. What happened to individual responsibility?

How about this scenario: The fed says that you will get complete health coverage if you vote for them. They get in, and the healthcare is indeed issued. Now, they can use the threat of taking it away from you to manipulate your votes and lives. If they do not do that, fine, but it is still a very potentially dangerous weapon.
